An amateur archeologist dubbed the British Indiana Jones claims the world’s greatest relic is hidden in a secret crypt in Hounslow, West London.
Barrie-Jon Bower, 40, believes the Knights Templar captured the Holy Grail during the Crusades and brought it back to a crypt secreted away by a weir at the man-made Duke of Northumberland’s River, according to the Sun.
Bower spent the last few years studying the Templars and was so convinced, he has received permission from the Environment Agency, which will divert the river so they can bring in special equipment to survey the riverbed.
The archeological enthusiast has invested thousands of dollars into his own ground-penetrating radar equipment to prove his theory early next year.
“When I find it, it’s going to be one of the greatest finds in history — the biggest discovery of mankind,” he told the Sun. “Now I’ve been in the water it’s made me more certain. It feels hollow. It feels right. There’s something underneath. Why not Hounslow?”
Legend has it that the Grail – the cup Jesus drank from at the Last Supper – holds immeasurable power and has been sought throughout the centuries by many including treasure hunters, archeologists and the Nazis.
