Viewers of HBO‘s Real Time with Bill Maher, which is now on its 19th season, may have tuned in last night expecting to watch Episode 11. After yet another busy and eventful week in politics, including Major League Baseball moving the All-Star Game and Draft out of Atlanta due to Georgia’s recent voting legislation, did Maher get to deliver his usual comical political jabs?
Florida Republican congressman Matt Gaetz has also been a hot topic this week after he became the subject of a U.S. Justice Department probe into whether he trafficked a 17-year-old girl. Fox News‘ Tucker Carlson, who had a bizarre interview with Gaetz this week, responded to the interview stating it was “one of the weirdest interviews I’ve ever conducted.”
This is all while Fox News has been losing viewers both to less right and further right cable networks. Last week on Real Time, Maher introduced a hypothetical new slate of Fox News shows, including “Inside Sedition,“ “Factbusters,” “‘Pardon the Insurrection.’,” “‘The Hot Blonde Fascist Report.’,” and “‘The Karen Report’ with Marjorie Taylor Greene.” The HBO host joked that these ideas could potentially help them win some viewers back. You can check out that clip below.
There’s also still the pandemic that’s happening and a bolstered vaccine rollout from the Biden administration in addition to the Republican Party still trying to figure out where it stands in the aftermath of Donald Trump. Should viewers have expected Bill Maher to weigh in on these topics and more last night?
Unfortunately, that did not occur. There was no new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday, April 2. Maher joins a list of other late night shows that either took or are taking a short break due to holidays.
Thus far, there have been ten new episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher in season 19. The popular HBO show should return to the air as scheduled next week.
